A Thought for You

Written yesterday evening:
.
Cold rain after 2 nights of freeze on the mountain, cold rain today, tomorrow snow showers, I contemplate how rough the past year or so has been: health issues of ultimate ends - several departed, several waiting their turn, loved ones in dire distresses of various kinds... & I still breathe. My time is not yet. My work not yet over. And now as the darkening season grows toward winter, the otherworld calls me to deepen my vision of this precious earth & all life here, all I love. May all be enfolded in deep peace of mind & heart despite all. ~ Daphne Yvonne Bradshaw

Read Widely, Wisely, and Well by Daphne Yvonne Bradshaw

Reading as many types of genres and types of writings is vital to being a well-rounded person. In any specific subject matter, read as many perspectives as possible with the caveat of vetting your sources for reliability and verification. A mix of fiction and non-fiction helps. The same caveat applies regardless of reading material. Read wisely. Filling the mind with nonsense and lies is not helpful.
Once a piece of writing is chosen, then read well. Read to understand as well as to enjoy. Study what the author is saying. Then fact check as needed along the way and afterward.
Be aware that what the mind feeds on becomes the reader, so feed your mind widely, wisely, and well.

To Be Better Day By Day by Daphne Yvonne Bradshaw

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. ~ Ernest Hemingway
.
That is also my goal – to be a better person each day I live. It does require introspection, observation, critical thinking, and focus. These skills and other related ones need patient work & steady purpose and the humble attitude of accepting myself as I am. The fact is that I am who I am, no more nor less. So, I try my best with who I am with where I am & from where I come with what I have. This also requires much practice and humor as I am not often a fast learner and tend toward making mistakes.
